Block editors help simplify the process of creating and editing content, providing a more modern and flexible user experience. Here are the strengths and weaknesses of the two types of editors:
1. Traditional editors:
Operate on a character-by-character basis, allowing users to change, delete, or insert individual characters in the text.
Suitable for small editing tasks, such as correcting spelling errors, updating information, or changing wording.
Provide high control for users, allowing precise editing at each position in the text.
However, when making large changes or moving long passages of text, traditional editors can become difficult and time-consuming.
Block editors:
Operate on the basis of text block units, allowing users to handle text sections as a unified block.
Suitable for large editing tasks, such as rearranging the order of paragraphs, moving or deleting large portions of text.
Provide the ability to easily manage the structure and formatting of text, helping to maintain consistency and clear presentation.
However, block editors may be less flexible when making small changes or editing precisely at each position in the text.
In the future, we will support switching between these two types to increase flexibility in text editing.
For the block editor, you use the key combination Ctrl Z (Command Z) to undo, and Ctrl Y (Command Y) to redo.
